Academic Programme for Schools

One option for groups attending Bay Light is for the students to work on an academic programme in the morning and then have a variety of activity based afternoons.  The academic morning would encompass one of our cross-curricular projects that will be completed in the week, marked and feedback given.  Following is details of the projects and the titles available.  Please ask for more details.

We also recognise the importance of NEG 10 (MOE) in all we do, and Bay Light is able to fully address this learning with groups.

Respect for the diverse ethnic and cultural heritage of New Zealand people, with acknowledgment of the unique place of Māori, and New Zealand's role in the Pacific and as a member of the international community of nations.

Project description and options.

A project-based curriculum treats the investigation of a topic as the basis for learning. The projects are based on the national curriculum. Within each project, all of the Learning Areas are included and the students have the opportunity to direct their own learning and work to a depth and breadth that is difficult to achieve within a traditional structure. Their learning skills (e.g. goal setting, planning, investigative research, presentation, computing, etc) are enhanced, as are their thinking skills (e.g. metacognition, evaluation, synthesising information, etc). Support and feedback provided.
